Back to the roots, everyone.

Little is known about the upcoming fifth season of Stranger Things except the first episode's title.

However, the Duffer brothers are already starting to tease something, and so far, things look quite promising for fans... as well as intimidating.

Stranger Things fandom is yet to make something concrete out of the Duffers' newest tease, but here's how it went exactly:

"Five, the way we see it, is kind of a culmination of all the seasons, so it's sort of got a little bit from each," Ross Duffer said at the Tudum Theater (via Variety). "Whereas before each season was so distinctly… [Season] 3 is our big summer blockbuster season with big monsters, and [Season] 4 was the psychological horror. I think that what we're trying to do is go back to the beginning a little bit, in sort of the tone of 1."

The first season of Stranger Things is hailed by fans as "iconic" and "flawless" as it combined nostalgia, an atmosphere that was simultaneously cozy and creepy, as well as compelling storyline.

However, given the parallel with season 4, fans suggested that "the development of the events is parallel to the season 1", but it could be possible that the Duffers were talking about giving the show in 2 volumes and making at least one episode last longer than two hours.

But the season 4 reference has also sparked concerns among some fans who apparently disliked it and want the final chapter to be something different.

"The way absolutely everyone asked for the opposite and for it to be smaller and character driven instead of whatever the [heck] season 4 was on and YET," Twitter user 1ux1isbon complained.

Season 1 appears to be one of the most favorite chapters of Stranger Things. According to fans, none of the seasons that followed managed to match the "serotonin levels" the very first chapter gave people.

The final season, however, might not only give some serotonin but also break a lot of hearts, as fans are preemptively concerned about the survival of their favorite characters. Since the story is coming to an end, the danger of being killed off is real for pretty much everyone in Hawkins — even the main and beloved characters.

The premiere date for season 5 is yet to be announced by Netflix, but reports have already suggested that one should not expect it before 2024.
