The Boys Season 4: Jensen Ackles Confirms What We Already Knew About Soldier Boy
The cast of The Boys keeps teasing us with more and more details about the upcoming season, and it's getting harder and harder to keep ourselves together.
Based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the show took the superhero genre by storm, offering viewers a fresh and unique look at heroes in capes.
Set in a world where superheroes are revered as celebrities and protected by a powerful corporation called Vought International, the show follows a group of vigilantes, The Boys, as they seek to expose and bring down the corrupt and insane superheroes known as The Seven, led by the most powerful Homelander.
With three released seasons, the show not only revealed a fair amount of bloody vendettas and strange superhero habits but also managed to deliver some outstanding performances.
With The Boys' leader Billy Butcher, played by Karl Urban, and Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso and Karen Fukuhara's characters on one side, and Antony Starr, aka Homelander, Erin Moriarty, and other members of The Seven on the other, the show is a far cry from any traditional superhero story.
In Season 3, the memorable cast was joined by our favorite Winchester brother, Jensen Ackles, best known for his role in the long-running Supernatural.
He plays Soldier Boy — a legendary World War II hero and founding member of the corrupt The Seven.
A patriotic character with superhuman powers, his dark past and moral ambiguity makes him a more dangerous villain to The Boys than Homelander.
Despite Jensen Ackles' character being defeated at the end of Season 3, transported back to a secret military compound in the USSR, and trapped in the gassed capsule, the actor is teasing fans with a possible comeback in the upcoming Season 4.
In his interview with Awards Radar, Ackles hints at Soldier Boy's return in The Boys Season 4, confirming that his character is "not dead" yet.
Despite being captured, Soldier Boy is one of the most powerful characters in the Vought universe who can't be just written out of the show.
The new season of The Boys has a lot of loose ends to tie up, including the father-son relationship between Soldier Boy and Homelander.
The upcoming season may explore the dynamic between the duo and bring the war to an end, but how long Ackles will be involved and in what capacity is still unclear.
Whatever it is, fans are excited and looking forward to more depth and intrigue in the coming season.
