The Boys Fans Hope Season 4 Will Fix Tek Knight's Bizarre Comic Arc
Even if he's not portrayed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Tek Knight deserves at least some justice.
In case you don't know, Amazon's The Boys is based on an eponymous comic book series, and not every storyline in those was necessarily good. The source material is known to be way gorier than the TV adaptation (as unhinged as the said adaptation is...), but sometimes, it just went completely off the rails.
One mistake that the fans hope will be fixed by the TV series is Tek Knight's arc. The reason? It was extremely bizarre and off-putting in the comic books — for no reason at all, and with no significant meaning behind it.
Let's remember who Tek Knight is. While Homelander is obviously a Superman knock-off, and Soldier Boy is a twisted take on Captain America, Tek Knight is a merciless satire on superheroes like Marvel's Iron Man and DC's Batman.
What's Tek Knight's problem? Well, he has a very peculiar sex obsession, as he can't stop engaging in sexual activity with literally everyone... and everything. Including inanimate objects.
It's almost like it's perfectly fine for The Boys' insane universe: after all, here we have a superhero who is occasionally sleeping with sea animals. Still, many fans believe that Tek Knight's weird kink was introduced purely for shock value, and instead of making him edgy, the authors just turned Tek Knight's arc into a cringe festival.
Now that Tek Knight is readying to fully step into The Boys universe (including its Gen V spinoff), fans hope that Amazon does something more meaningful than just a guy in a suit of armor who can't stop having sex with inanimate objects.
However, Amazon has already killed one fan dream regarding Tek Knight: instead of having Jeffrey Dean Morgan portraying him, the studio introduced Derek Wilson as the new supe, keeping JDM's part in the series a mystery. Now that the famous fan cast is officially not canon, there's still hope that The Boys will do justice to its most anticipated newcomer.
Gen V premieres on Prime Video on September 29; the release date for The Boys season 4, meanwhile, remains to be scheduled.
