Can it get even more obvious?

The Boys arrived on Prime Video at the right time, and that has played into the show's popularity today. In 2019, when the series had just premiered, viewers were tired of too many superheroes coming at them from both Marvel and DC, not to mention The CW's own take. The irony of The Boys felt like a breath of fresh air.

The show continued its clever method of parodying the superhero genre in the best possible way. Sometimes cruel, sometimes extremely disturbing, The Boys has proven that nothing is impossible on television, as long as the audience is willing to watch. And from the looks of things, season 4 is going to up the bar yet again.

Homelander’s Costume Season 4

With season 4 just around the corner, fans are excited to be surrounded by all the promotional materials the show is putting forward. The season stills are a big part of it, making the viewers study every single detail of the picture. And the one with Homelander seems to be the most interesting.

Compared to previous seasons, fans have noticed that Homelander's suit looks much more padded. Even though the star who portrays Homelander, Antony Starr, always had to wear a suit with padded chest and shoulders, judging by the picture, it seems to be even bigger this time.

And the r/TheBoys subreddit has its own convincing theory on why that is the case.

“It does look more swollen to me, at least in this image. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s meant to symbolize his inflated ego,” Redditor InsomniaPaladin said.

Considering how Homelander manages to fight off every single villain that comes his way, with little to no repercussions for his actions, there is nothing to stop his ego from growing even larger. The suit would have been a clever way for the production team to show how his sense of self-importance grows as he takes up more and more space.

Of course, since it hasn't been confirmed, there's no real value to the theory. After all, one frame from one season doesn't say much about the way Homelander looks, since it can be a matter of angle. Still, that doesn't mean you can't pay extra attention when the season goes live, just to test the theory.

Bigger suit or not, Homelander will be back on our screens on June 13, as unstoppable as ever. So if you're interested in seeing how Billy Butcher tries to take him down this time around, don't forget to mark the date and tune in to Prime Video.
