The Big Bang Theory’s Most Controversial Finale Twist Was Actually Well-Deserved

Even though The Big Bang Theory is still a very popular TV show, there are some things about it that make fans look back with shame. From a slew of sexist jokes to the way the characters were reduced to slightly absurd caricatures of themselves as the seasons progressed, the sitcom left a lot to be desired.

And while viewers tend to agree on the brilliance of The Big Bang Theory's ending, some still cling to the idea that Raj deserved better. When, in fact, he did not.

Who Did Raj Marry in The Big Bang Theory?

While Sheldon, Leonard and Howard all managed to find a partner and were married by the show's finale, Raj's love life was a mess from beginning to end, leaving him lonely. Although many felt it wasn't fair for his character to be left like that, there was no other way for Raj's story to end.

In order to get married and live happily ever after, Raj had to work on himself and not jump from one relationship to another. Although he managed to overcome his selective mutism around women, this should have been just the beginning of his therapy sessions, because he didn't know how to act on his words.

Moreover, every time he entered a new relationship or felt sufficiently attracted to someone, he was willing to abandon all principles and even the closest friendships he had.

From the time he was willing to risk it with Leonard to get closer to Penny, to the time he juggled two girls and bragged about it, Raj has never been in love with any of them to the point of getting serious, let alone married.

When he almost ended up in a marriage of convenience set up by his family, it was the first time he actually felt reluctant to go through with something loveless. And even that came with Howard talking some sense into him right at the airport.

If anything, Raj's finale will make his character do a 180 and try to approach every relationship he has differently. However, the only way viewers will get to see that is if Raj makes an appearance in the top-secret spinoff that Max has greenlit back in 2023. For now, his further character development remains a mystery.
