The Anti-Popcorn List: 10 Films for Those Who Think Outside the Box Office
The movie industry is so huge that you can't possibly keep up with everything and you're bound to miss some of the works that otherwise would captivate you instantly.
We did that job for you and are now offering a list of movies that seemingly slipped under the radar but are worth every second of your time.
The overlap between the cinephile and the general moviegoing audience on the Venn diagram is not that huge, and these movies missed it. They weren't popular at the time of their release and didn't amass a cult following like some of the other box office flops did as people discovered their beauty and uniqueness in the era of DVD and online releases.
The reasons why they weren't successful are poor marketing (or none at all) and heavy topics that they're built upon. People find some of these only because they're going through the filmography of one certain actor and then sit stunned after clicking on a seemingly bland title (that was our case with Lee Pace and The Fall, for example).
Sometimes these titles are featured in very specific lists, like this one, but never in the mainstream ones. Doesn't make them bad.
