The upcoming Disney+ series is only nearing its production, but fans can't wait to see the whole thing already.

'The Acolyte ' will be set in a little-known period of the galaxy far, far away known as the Age of the High Republic. Not much is known in terms of the narrative, except that the story centers on the first revival of the dark side forces among the Jedi. The series will be written and directed by Leslie Headland, known for her Netflix series 'Russian Doll'. And it looks like Headland already has some interesting ideas for how to bring this exciting new chapter to the screen.

While speaking to Vanity Fair, Headland talked about her major cinematic influences in the making of 'The Acolyte', and they are certainly more than unexpected.

"So I actually went more toward martial arts films, and storylines that are a little bit more personal and less global and galactic. Those warriors were on missions that were deeply personal, with people feeling wronged and having to make it right," Headland said.

So, 'Star Wars ' fans should expect to see some real classic kung-fu vibes in the upcoming series, and some viewers are already anticipating 'The Acolyte', thanking Hadland for changing up the tired Jedi formula quite a bit.
