That Time When a Dog Stole the Show in True Detective's Season 1 Finale
Sometimes it's not the human actors who play our favorite show characters, but animals.
The best example of this is the season 1 finale of True Detective.
The scene is very emotional as the main characters, detectives Rust and Marty, portrayed by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, finally find the killer who took the life of Lange and many others on the show.
As Marty tries to talk to the woman who opened the door and Rust stands outside with a gun, the dog catches the eye of an attentive fan.
It looks like the poor doggo is trying to get away from the horrible place he is trapped in. The dog seems to be so full of love and life, but instead he gets yelled at all the time.
That's why Marty's arrival finally gives him a chance to get some attention.
The dog's barking never stops until the homeowner yells at him and threatens to kick him. The little dog changes his position and tries to get away from the open window.
But the most amazing moment was when Marty tried to get the dog out of the killer's house. Fans were deeply touched by how the animal managed to tell so much without actually, you know, telling anything.
"The dog seems to be really loving, the man yells for the dog to get out, the dog goes out the dog door and sticks his face back in as if to say "Ok, I know you're crazy, do you really want me out or are you just having a moment?".
I just thought the dogs' acting added so much to the scene and atmosphere. This dog seems to have gone through this so many times that it could actually be living in this scenario," Reddit user meltbaby said.
The rest of the dog's story is uncertain. The only thing we know from here is that he eventually escaped (thank God, because this show had enough of animal violence).
And he also somehow gave Rust a clue as to where to find the killer.
The True Detective is an HBO show that was first released in 2014. It has 3 seasons, season 4 is currently in production.
