The first season of That '90s Show aired in January of this year and left us all filled with double the nostalgia – for both the good old '90s and That '70s Show that we all love.

Following the original series' tradition of incorporating pop culture references from the time period, That '90s Show could not help but mention the hit show Friends.

In the fourth episode Rave, Leia and Jay try to figure out their relationship status.

When Leia wants them to remain friends, Jay compares them to Ross and Rachel, who were an on-again-off-again couple on Friends (even at the time of the first season, which is the only one that aired by the time Leia and Jay talk).

Unfortunately, Leia shoots the hopeful guy down by saying they are more like Joey and Chandler. Well, those two had some sparks going throughout the show too…

What makes this Friends reference even more hilarious is the fact that Debra Jo Rupp, who plays Kitty Forman, appeared on Friends even before That '70s Show.

She portrayed Alice, the wife of Phoebe's brother Frank. Her role on the show was not that big, but it was an impactful one, seeing as Phoebe was the surrogate for Alice and Frank's triplets.

That all happens in seasons 3 through 5, which aired from 1996 to 1999, while the first season of That '90s Show takes place in the summer of 1995.

Who knows, maybe the sequel will be picked up for a few more seasons, and we will end up with some glorious *chef's kiss* Alice references? Hopefully, it will not be about Leia marrying her home economics teacher, but karma can be cruel!

Friends is not the only '90s hit that has received a mention on the show. Over the course of the first season, That '90s Show has given us some great references.

For instance, Beverly Hills, 90210 made a comeback in one of the episodes, and Brian Austin Green even appeared in a cameo role as David.

Leia as Kelly looks so much like Jennie Garth that it now haunts us! Well, let's see if Jay and Leia do become the Ross and Rachel of the show.

So far, they are on the right (wrong?) track!
