There will be no “Hello, Wisconsin!” for them anymore.

Summary:

  • That '90s Show is the anticipated follow-up of the iconic That '70s Show sitcom.
  • The series was renewed for the second season after the 2023 successful release, however, it was reported that one couple from the original cast won’t appear in it.
  • Other main members of That '70s Show’s cast haven’t yet proved their participation in the spin-off’s continuation.

Back in 1998, the world saw the first season of That '70s Show, the FOX sitcom that became definitive for the whole generation of back-then teens. Following the tricky lives of a group of six teenage friends of the fictional Point Place, Wisconsin, it attracted millions of viewers until it concluded with the eighth season in 2008.

The sitcom was so successful that its showrunners came up with the idea of the sequel That '90s Show, 10 episodes of which were released on Netflix last January, focusing on the children of the original characters. Thus, the main characters of the follow-up were Leia Forman, the daughter of Eric and Donna, and Jay Kelso, Michael and Jackie’s son.

The parents’ actors reprised their iconic roles, making small appearances in the show. When That '90s Show was renewed for a second season, fans started to hope they will see their favorite characters one more time, however, not all of them are returning this time.

During the celebration of Family Guy ‘s 25th anniversary at PaleyFest, Jackie Burkhart’s actress, Mila Kunis confessed she and her real-life and onscreen husband Ashton Kutcher, playing Michael Kelso, will not take part in That '90s Show anymore.

Even though they appeared only in one episode of the first season, the fandom wished to see their favorite Michael and Jackie one more time, which seemingly won’t happen.

“We did our thing and they introduced our son in the show,” Kunis explained.

Reddit connects this resignation with the couple’s support of Danny Masterson, their That 70's Show cast mate, who was accused of sexual assaults in 2023.

“Definitely doesn’t have anything to do with their association with multiple sex offenders,” claims @HurtsmithTV.

It’s not clear yet whether the Formans’ actors, Topher Grace (Eric) and Laura Prepon (Donna), will appear in the continuation or it will feature only the series’ grandparents Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty) and Kurtwood Smith (Red) as regulars from the original cast.

However, Kunis’ Family Guy co-star Seth Green, who also appeared in That ’70s Show as Mitch Miller, stated he’ll pop up in the sequel’s second season, not revealing any other details, including the approximate release date.

Let’s wait for further updates about the show, while its first season is available for streaming on Netflix.
