Doctor Who creators stressed that David Tennant is returning as the "true" 14th Doctor, and it makes the arrival of Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor feel like something to worry about rather than look forward to.

Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Special will see David Tennant return to his iconic role again, but this time he will portray the Fourteenth Doctor, not the Tenth. Apart from the return of Russell T Davies, David Tennant, and Catherine Tate, little is known about the upcoming series of special episodes.

Fans worry that this level of secrecy surrounding the return of the beloved Doctor could steal the show too much and ruin things for the already-announced Fifteenth Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa.

Tennant recently talked about his epic return on This Morning talk show. The actor shared that it felt a bit awkward to come back after a 15-year hiatus, but in the end, he had a lovely time on the set of the science fiction show. However, he refused to go into more detail.

Ncuti Gatwa is also keeping his mouth shut about anything concerning Doctor Who. It's this level of secrecy that makes things awkward for the younger actor.

Though Gatwa appears in the official teaser shared by BBC, he gets only "a nanosecond glimpse," as one of the fans commented under the video. Besides, the two stars don't share a single scene. So concerned Whovians are left confused and wondering when and how Gatwa will appear in the 2023 specials. His arrival will most likely mean the end of tenure for Tennant's Doctor, so the majority of fans feel anxious about it.

Even those excited about Gatwa's Doctor now have their attention focused on David Tennant because the teaser fails to give fans at least some reason to look forward to the arrival of Gatwa's Doctor. If the creators continue to adhere to this level of secrecy, things don't look good for Gatwa. His Doctor could either feel like a companion to Tennant's Doctor or even become the object of fans' hatred for suddenly replacing the most beloved Doctor of all time.

"Despite Tennant's return for the first three episodes this new era is firmly about the fun we're gonna have when Gatwa finally graces our screens in 2023," one of Whovians wrote on Reddit, and that's what the creators should keep in mind.
