Teen Wolf Movie Should've Been Something Way Different to Succeed
The Teen Wolf reboot movie is steadily approaching and is set to be released in January 2023.
When the movie was announced, fans were excited to see which new twists and turns they'll get to experience. That was until the trailer dropped, and more details started emerging. When fans got a glimpse of what was to come, they were disappointed as they expected something very different. And in light of that, it looks as though the movie may not meet with success.
So, what exactly is the problem? Let's get into it!
To start, we've seen quite the commotion surrounding the movie's casting situation. First, we find out that Arden Cho, who played Kira, won't be returning due to reportedly being offered 'half' the pay given to some of the other costars.
Then Dylan O'Brien, who portrayed Stiles, announced that he will be absent due to scheduling struggles, while also implying it all felt very rushed.
Fans were quite upset about this as they wanted to see their favorites reunite, and they didn't like the fact that the cast wasn't even in place when the movie was announced, as the marketing was done right off the bat.
Now, another thing a lot of people found strange was that the showrunners decided to bring back the Nogitsune storyline. Some say it looks like a clear attempt to bank off the success of previous seasons as that may be the only way to bring the fan base back. In reality, fans wanted to see new storylines and adventures.
One fan, for instance, proposed that a storyline following Scott McCall and his new pack would've been great to see.
Focusing on storylines about characters that won't actually be in the movie, such as Stiles, may not be the best idea, as their absence will be felt even more. Instead, they could focus on making the characters that will be there shine and do something completely different to surprise their viewers!
Generally speaking, fans don't have very high expectations for the movie at this time. And according to some of them, they will consider watching it purely for nostalgia instead of a good story.
That said, it is just a trailer and the movie is not even out yet, so we can't be fully sure what's awaiting us, and there could be much more to it than it seems. However, from what we've all seen so far, it looks like the movie could really benefit from taking a different direction in order to make it a success.
