Ted Lasso Season 3 Finale is Already Too Obvious, Episode 9 Proves It
Nate's redemption arc was obvious enough from the very beginning, but no one thought it to be that obvious.
Ted Lasso 's final season 3 turned out to be just as plain as the fans had anticipated. There's nothing wrong with meeting your audience's expectations, some would even argue that it's much better than not understanding them at all.
However, the most hyped season of Ted Lasso seems a bit dull and underwhelming for a number of reasons.
One of them, the predictability, was proven once again in episode 9. Nate and Rupert are approaching a point of no return, and although it was pretty clear, fans feel it should have been handled much more subtly.
With Rupert being so paternal to Nate, he could have been a perfect example of ugly manipulation.
Turning him back into a villain with the snap of a finger almost ruins the beauty of the story, even though it perfectly justifies Nate's presumed comeback to Richmond.
While some fans feel that Nate's redemption arc was completely inevitable, given that the show has always taken time to translate certain team-playing, family-like values, others feel that the show would be even better without it.
Now that his comeback is obvious, there is one more thing that could save Ted Lasso's finale from being borderline boringly predictable.
Richmond should not let him come back. Not only would it make the finale a little more exciting, but it would also teach another valuable lesson about the cost of betrayal.
No matter how good you become, not many people will be willing to accept you after you have betrayed them, so this decision seems both fair and realistic.
Considering that it's hard to judge Nate's growth, since he's only gotten better in the relationship, and could easily get worse if a breakup ever occurs, leaving him behind and finally moving on would be the best thing Richmond FC could do.
And Ted himself? Could the show make it any more obvious that he's about to return to the US?
Whether or not that's the path that Ted Lasso's Season 3 finale will take, we'll have to wait and see. The final episode is set to air on May 31st, check in with new episodes on Apple TV Plus on Wednesdays to not miss a thing!
