Ted Lasso Season 3 Casts Ted's Mom, And She Looks Awfully Familiar
Get ready to learn all of Ted Lasso's childhood secrets.
As the coach has once said "I love meeting people's moms. It's like reading an instruction manual as to why they're nuts." So, this is exactly what we, along with AFC Richmond, Rebecca and the rest of the gang, will do in Season 3 – meet Ted's mother and read Lasso's instruction manual.
Veteran character actress Becky Ann Baker, best known for her 'mom' roles in comedies Freaks and Geeks and Girls, is set to join Ted Lasso Season 3 cast, according to Above The Lines magazine. In the meantime, the casting has not yet been officially announced by Apple TV+.
Mama Lasso's appearance in Season 3 is just logical. It looks like Ted (Jason Sudeikis ) needs mom's love and support because as we all remember Season 2 was a roller-coaster for the overoptimistic soccer coach's mental health.
But who do the series' fans would like to see as Ted's mom? In a thread on Reddit, created before the leaks made it to the media, viewers came up with their own candidate actresses.
"If Ted's mother is introduced and it's not played by Kathy Bates I'm protesting," one of the fans posted. Bates is best known for her role in the 1990 horror film Misery based on Stephen King 's novel.
Other redditors suggested it should have been Jean Smart (best comedy actress award for the second consecutive year for her role in HBO Max 's Hacks) or Jane Curtin (Dr. Mary Albright in 3rd Rock from the Sun, the "Queen of Deadpan" and a "refreshing drop of acid", according to TV critics).
With New Episodes Arriving in 2023, Ted Lasso Season 3's Ending Is Already Obvious
Ted Lasso Season 2 has set an impressive record – it has become the most watched show on Apple TV+, which saw an unbelievable boost of 600% in viewership between Seasons 1 and Season 2. The last season also got 20 Emmy nominations and won in four major categories, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Best Actor and Supporting Actor (Comedy Series or Musical) awards for Jason Sudeikis and co-star Brett Goldstein, and a directing award (MJ Delaney).
Despite the show's tremendous success Season 3 has been plagued by all sorts of problems – from scripts being re-written to production delays and bloated budgets. Jason Sudeikis has been open on the issues facing the show, he also said that he is not sure if there will be Season 4.
The release of Ted Lasso Season 3 is slated for 2023.
