TBBT Spoiled Another Young Sheldon Heartbreaking Plot Twist Years Ago
The quirky character’s pivotal moment in life turned out to be yet another traumatic experience.
After spending seven years on TV as The Big Bang Theory ’s highly anticipated prequel, Young Sheldon has dived much deeper into its titular character’s past, proving that his exceptional intelligence could often bring him more heartbreaking truths rather than benefits.
Since season 1, the show has been following child Sheldon’s attempts to find friends among his peers that actually were pretty much older than him.
However, he was still quick to find someone he could finally have something in common with, though, long before Young Sheldon finale, The Big Bang Theory gave a major spoiler about how this storyline will turn out, and it wasn’t good news for Sheldon once again.
In Young Sheldon season 1, Sheldon befriends one of his schoolmates Tam, who is actually the one who sparked Sheldon’s even bigger interest in comic books since they both enjoyed spending time together while flipping pages of numerous cartoon-ish books in local stores.
The prequel’s further seasons see Sheldon and Tam drift apart a little bit now that Sheldon appears to be much more concerned about his future and becomes determined in his decision to go to CalTech after graduating from school.
His friendship with Tam, whether it eventually came to naught or continued, remains a mystery within Young Sheldon’s storyline, but not for those who have been fans of The Big Bang Theory long before the prequel.
The original show’s season 12 reintroduces grown-up Tam and catches him visiting CalTech with his young son. Though he’s eager to meet Sheldon again after 20 years apart, the latter is adamant in his belief that Tam betrayed him back in the day when he ruined their agreement to go to California together and become roommates.
Sheldon initially refuses to tell anyone about what happened between him and Tam, but then confesses to Amy that Tam’s eventual change of heart made Sheldon feel like he could never trust anyone again, or even have another friend.
Tam, however, might not be the one to blame here either, since he probably was determined to continue his studies in California as well, but eventually decided to stay in Texas after meeting his girlfriend and, apparently, the mother of his son.
Whether there was some kind of feud between them or not, The Big Bang Theory sees Sheldon finally giving up on his long-standing idea to hold a grudge against Tam as he realizes he had nothing to worry about after Leonard became the one he would eventually work and co-live with.
