There's a lot to look forward to for DC fans, as co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran have announced an impressive slate of movies and series over the next few years.

That announcement came with the hefty price of several cancellations and recastings, proving that DC Studios is headed for a full reboot. But Gunn assured fans that one popular series will survive the changes.

Superman & Lois debuted in 2021, featuring a married Clark Kent and Lois Lane dealing with the struggles of juggling their family and their careers. The series stars 7th Heaven alum Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch of Grimm as the titular characters.

It was originally intended to be part of the Arrowverse, but – due to COVID – was set in a completely different universe. The Arrowverse will be coming to an end with the finale of CW's The Flash.

Gunn promised to "unify" DC's properties, rather than having several different projects that share characters in different universes. With the upcoming Superman: Legacy announced and the vast cancellations of CW shows, fans began to worry that the beloved Superman & Lois wouldn't make the cut. But those fans may rest assured, as Gunn said canceling Superman & Lois is not on the table.

"It's a show everybody likes," he said during a recent press event, "so it's going to keep going for a little bit."

The show currently has an 81% percent average audience score on Rotten Tomatoes – higher than any series in the Arrowverse. It won the 2022 Saturn Award for Best Sci-Fi Network/Cable Series.

Audiences and critics agree on their love for the show. While new DC CEOs have made controversial decisions for the good of their franchise, canceling Superman & Lois seems to be one line they won't cross. According to Deadline, the beloved series will likely last "one or two more seasons." But for the time being, they plan to let the series continue to unfold.

Season 3 will pick up mere weeks where Season 2 left off, with Superman getting his powers back and defeating Ally Allston to save Smallville. It will premiere on the CW on March 14.

Meanwhile, Superman & Lois Producer Greg Berlanti – who produced most of the Arrowverse series – has two upcoming DC shows in development. He recently signed a deal with Warner Bros. Television Group via Berlanti Productions. But he has nothing to do with Gunn and Safran's leg of the company.
