Superman Gets a Younger, Handsomer Makeover with House of Cards Star
Cavill's been out for what literally feels like a couple of days, but there's already a perfect replacement found.
There's been a surge of fan art featuring David Corenswet as Superman for James Gunn 's upcoming young superhero film. Rumor has it that Corenswet will be replacing Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman.
In mid-December, DC Studios head James Gunn announced that Cavill would no longer be playing Superman. Gunn is planning to make a film about a younger Clark Kent, who works as a reporter at the Daily Planet in Metropolis, and he's looking to cast a younger actor as Kent. There are also plans for a younger Lois Lane, previously played by Amy Adams, to appear in the film.
Artist Javier Sanchez is convinced that James Gunn should cast David Corenswet, known for his roles in Hollywood, House of Cards and The Politician as the young Superman. Sanchez even created several pieces of fan art to showcase why he thinks Corenswet would be the perfect choice for the Man of Steel.
Corenswet isn't a major Hollywood star, which would make him the perfect fresh face for the role. Plus, he's got the acting chops and physicality to bring Superman to life on screen. It's not official yet, but fans are already getting excited at the possibility of Corenswet as the new Superman.
"I think David Corenswet would be an amazing choice for Superman," said one of the fans. "He's got that classic, all-American look and he's a really talented actor. I can't wait to see what he brings to the role."
Fans are now convinced that, just like Cavill, Corenswet got the charm, the charisma, and the physicality to pull off the role, however challenging it may be after the whole Cavill's exit disaster. The fact that Corenswet is not a huge movie star yet is also a plus at this point.
"I've been a fan of Henry Cavill's Superman, but I'm excited to see what a fresh face like David Corenswet can bring to the role," another fan suggested on Twitter. "I think he has the potential to really make the character his own and bring something new to the table."
It's surely not the end of the DCU drama, though: hashtag #GunnAndSafranOut has been trending on Twitter for the past few days, and DCU fans have no intention to stop anytime soon.
