Netflix's hottest TV show is finally returning with its fourth season after almost three years of absence. The long production resulted in more ambitious goals – Duffer brothers, creators of the show, cited 'The Game of Thrones' as one of the show biggest inspirations.

Given that the series' characters are scattered all over the world, with some laying low in Hawkins, Indiana, and others going on adventures in California and even Russia, the upcoming season will have a rather complex narrative structure – which momentarily brings to mind HBO's fantasy saga, famous for its narrative jumping from one set of characters to another.

"We kind of jokingly call it our Game of Thrones season because it's so spread out, so I think that's what's unique or most unique about the season… these three storylines, are all connected and kind of interwoven together, but it's just very different tones", Matt Duffer told Deadline.

Yet, the massive scope is not the only thing in store for eager fans – showrunners are also preparing to shed some light on 'Stranger Things ' biggest mysteries, finally giving fans some answers they were craving for this past six years.

"For us really what it's about is revelations, in that we really wanted to start giving the audience some answers", said Ross Duffer.

First half of 'Stranger Things' season 4 is set to premier on May 27, 2022 via Netflix.
