The show is exciting with its atmosphere, interesting characters and fascinating plot, but there's one detail that seems to be getting on everyone's nerves.

The relationship between Nancy, Jonathan and Steve has once again become a love triangle. This has caused outrage among fans.

But why is the Byers and Wheeler couple causing so much anger among viewers?

Some Redditors continue to defend the lovebirds, pointing out even if Jonathan does have a flaw, it's only that he smokes marijuana. But many fans disagree.

User zoefangirlintheory highlights a lot of reasons why viewers don't like the couple. Aside from the weed, there was the time in season 1 when Jonathan stalked Nancy and took pictures of her and her friend Barbara by the pool.

While Nancy was in a relationship with Steve, Jonathan continued to pursue her. This is a red flag in itself, as it shows a lack of respect for boundaries and the concept of cheating.

While it is true that Wheeler eventually ended her affair with Harrington and chose Byers, it is important to recognize that the way their relationship began was not healthy.

And although Steve was portrayed as the school bully at the beginning of the show, viewers believe he treated Nancy with respect and considered her wishes. Jonathan, on the other hand, failed to even tell the girl he was going to college on his own.

All of Byers' actions in the premiere season were done behind Steve's back, who had no idea the quiet boy was capable of stealing his girlfriend.

It seems to the Redditor that Jonathan is so stoned throughout the series so it makes all of his actions numb and dull.

First Will goes missing, then the Mind Flayer possesses his little brother, then the family moves out of state. With such a busy schedule, there is no time for a stable relationship.

However, the Redditor doesn't want Nancy to date anyone at all by the end of the series. The behavior of both guys raises questions, so it seems to the user that each of the characters should go their own way to happiness in the show's finale.

Steve has matured quite a bit over the seasons, he's capable of finding true love, Jonathan just needs time, and Nancy will probably clear her head and figure out who she really wants to be with.
