Stephen King Reveals His A Quiet Place: Day One Favorite Character
We can all agree on that one.
After the success of A Quiet Place, the post-apocalyptic tale of survival in a world inhabited by many blind, deadly creatures with too good a hearing, it was only a matter of time before the franchise expanded. Currently, John Krasinski 's universe consists of two sequels and a newly released prequel that opens up the world even further.
A Quiet Place takes viewers back to the very beginning, to the day of the invasion: Day One proved to be even better than many viewers expected. A maestro of the horror genre Stephen King was no exception among the impressed crowd.
Is A Quiet Place: Day One Worth Watching?
As we all know, surviving in the universe where A Quiet Place takes place can be very difficult. However, the stories told in the first two movies took place in the countryside, which makes staying quiet an easier task. This time around, viewers will get to experience the apocalypse in the busiest city out there.
Starring Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn, Day One is set in New York and follows the story of a terminally ill woman, Samira, who is persuaded to leave the hospice to perform in a puppet show in Manhattan. As the city comes under an unexpected intergalactic attack, Sam, along with her cat Frodo and other survivors, are forced to find a way out.
While the premise of the entire franchise may seem repetitive, the prequel grabs your attention not only with the horror of the situation but also with its drama. With an 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie is praised for its quality writing and character development, which is somewhat rare for the genre.
Stephen King, the author of many critically acclaimed horror novels, agrees with the majority of critics.
A Quiet Place: Day One may take place in the aftermath of the apocalypse, but the viewer's focus will remain on the relationship that Sam, Eric, and, of course, a true scene-stealer, Frodo, build in the midst of it.
If you want to check out the Michael Sarnoski-written and directed extension of the A Quiet Place franchise and judge the performances of Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn for yourself, the prequel is in theaters now. Spoiler for all the animal lovers out there: the cat survives – so there's nothing to ruin your experience!
