Star Wars Icon Shades Franchise For Taking Away Its Own Magic With Spinoffs

The Star Wars franchise seems to be entering a new golden age. After the release of a controversial sequel trilogy, Disney took a different approach and shifted the focus to developing spin-off stories in the form of shows for Disney Plus.

With The Bad Batch, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, and The Mandalorian already released, and Ahsoka and The Acolyte on the way, fans will have plenty of content set in their favorite universe for a long time to come. But not everyone shares in the excitement.

Liam Neeson is constantly asked if he would reprise his role as Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in a future Star Wars spin-off, but the answer is often negative. Liam explained his lack of desire to don the Jedi robe again. One of the main reasons is that, in his opinion, the Star Wars franchise is destroying its own magic.

"There's so many spinoffs of Star Wars. It's diluting it to me, and it's taken away the mystery and the magic in a weird way," the actor said in an interview at Watch What Happens Live! show.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, he made it clear that he would consider reprising the role of his iconic character under one condition – it had to be a movie, not a TV show.

"Yeah, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to TV, I must admit. I just like the big screen, you know?" Liam said.

Despite this statement, the actor has already appeared in a short cameo in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

His point of view clearly has a right to exist. No matter how good some of the shows can be, many fans admit to being pretty numb to Star Wars at this point.

"Andor is the best Star Wars thing since Empire (Strikes Back) and yet so many of my friends are too burnt out on Star Wars/spinoffs to watch it," Reddit user musicnothing said.

It's all rather sad, but let's hope fans don't get tired of the never-ending stream of Star Wars content too soon.
