'Star Wars' Fans Think Andor Channels This DC Superhero Vibe
The upcoming TV series is set to follow the character Cassian Andor five years before the events of the Star Wars movie 'Rogue One'.
The 'Andor ' creator Tony Gilroy has shared some insights into the character that his show is going to explore, revealing to Vanity Fair that he is on track to tell "a refugee story", basically.
"The story begins with the destruction of Andor's birth world, then follows him into adulthood, when he realizes he can't run forever," Gilroy told the outlet, with the show's star Diego Luna confirming that the series is "the journey of a migrant".
The sentiment sounded quite familiar to many 'Star Wars ' fans, some of whom have happened to follow the DC superhero universe as well.
Indeed, Superman 's origin story can also be "the journey of a migrant", if you will: sent to Earth as a baby before his home planet Krypton was destroyed by a natural cataclysm, Kal-El ended up in the American countryside and became Clark Kent.
Andor, however, has a slightly different journey in the 'Star Wars' universe. He is a rebel spy and a pilot who leads the Rogue One unit and ends up ultimately sacrificing himself in the eponymous movie.
The TV series, set to be released at some point in 2022, will follow the character's journey that led him to the noble decision.
