Sorry, Jenna Ortega Fans, But Wednesday Is Not Emmy Worthy
At least, that's what people on the Internet have been saying.
After Netflix decided to promote its recent popular series Wednesday for the Emmy Awards, the news immediately faced a backlash, especially the show's main potential Emmy nominee — Jenna Ortega.
Jenna's outstanding performance as a dark-minded and mysterious Wednesday Addams won her the hearts of millions and brought her to the spotlight she deserved.
The rising star managed to build a solid fan base over the past few years, but even they can't protect Jenna from all the criticism she's facing right now amidst the news of her potential Emmy nomination.
People on the Internet split into two groups.
While some are happy for the cast and demand others to show respect for the show, as they believe that Jenna Ortega deserves to be nominated for the most prestigious award for achievement in television.
The other group is literally questioning whether this move from Netflix is even allowed. They believe that to deserve an Emmy nomination an actor must show more emotions and expressions.
But isn't it like the whole point of Wednesday to be cold and still? Makes us wonder why Wednesday is even considered Emmy-worthy.
"Yup, let's nominate an acting performance where the actor stares at the camera with no expression and talks in a monotone voice. The entire show totally shows insane acting range," Twitter user TheHotDogMan69 said.
But what has caught everyone off guard is the fact that Jenna is the only young actress who was honored to be promoted for the nomination.
Fans don't understand why other prominent supporting actors, like Emma Myers, didn't get a chance to be on the list.
Others say that the rest of the actors deserve to be given credit for their amazing performances and it's a shame that they didn't get one.
Well, it seems like Wednesday did it again — the whole Internet can't stop talking about the show, but this time for a whole different reason.
The Emmy nominations will be announced on July 12, and fans still have a few months to reconsider, but you know, once the Internet has made up its mind, it's really hard to get it to change.
As for us, we honestly think that even The Thing deserves his big moment. But maybe not necessarily in the form of an Emmy.
