Sorry, General Hospital’s Sonny and Nina Never Had a Chance for This One Reason

For someone who isn't known for being the best father figure and certainly can't teach his kids anything remotely good, Sonny has had too many children over the course of more than three decades on General Hospital. As a mobster, his obsession with continuing his legacy is understandable, but the way the show presents it doesn't paint him in a very good light.

From constantly stealing children (even though he's not the only one to blame for that) to shooting his own son in the chest, Sonny Corinthos has shown a complete inability to be a good father. The only good that could come from having his children is to provide their mothers with some measure of protection and safety.

And that is exactly why Nina Reeves, no matter how tempting whatever she had with the amnesiac Sonny in the past, never had a chance against Carly or any of Sonny's baby mamas.

Can Nina Have Sonny’s Baby?

It is true that couples who become parents share a very special bond, whether they choose to stay together or separate. But this is not the level of emotion you would expect from a cutthroat mobster. Sonny Corinthos, on the other hand, uses it as a way to relate to the women he's been with.

Those who bore his children will always mean more to him than any other romance. Considering that he has had 12 children, if we count all the stepchildren, miscarriages and stillbirths, and 7 baby mamas, that puts infertile Nina on a very long list of people. Which doesn't make for a very stable relationship.

Of course, being a soap opera, General Hospital could have easily allowed Nina to have a miraculous pregnancy, but that would have been too high a price to pay for the couple, who weren't even that popular. Although it would have been nice to see Nina get at least one good thing going for her, staying tied to Sonny doesn't look like a great solution.

Besides, if there's one thing Port Charles has more than enough of right now, it's babies. Creating another one just to suffer from the negligence of her parents would have been overkill from a writing standpoint.

Unfortunately for the rare Sonny/Nina fans, this couple seems to be done for good. While Sonny will probably move on to someone else, Nina's fate doesn't seem to be as simple and positive. Many viewers believe that all the sad events in her life are slowly leading to the character being written off the show completely.
