From love to hate, eh?

This TV season has been tough on fans of many series, as the networks kept on canceling their beloved shows one after another. There reasons are different, but mainly come to these two: it’s either too expensive, or the show didn’t get the needed ratings. So here come the goodbyes…

One of the shows which is not going to be renewed for another season is So Help Me Todd that is (or rather, was) airing on CBS. The series premiered in 2022 and became a hit among the audiences. The show follows two central characters, Margaret and Todd, a mother and a son who become colleagues after Margaret hires him.

The thing is, Margaret Wright is everything you expect an attorney to be: strict, by the book, meticulous and all that. And her son is the exact opposite...

He used to be a brilliant private investigator, but lost his license for being too free with the law. But now it seems that his shady and bizarre methods are finally coming in handy for his mother's firm.

Season 1 was everything the fans of a crime drama slash family comedy could ever dream of. The characters had great chemistry, the storylines were well-written and complex, the investigation was smooth and everything was catching the viewers’ attention.

But it seems like something changed in season 2 which premiered in 2024.

“I’m sorry but this season is terrible. I’ve been telling EVERYONE to watch this show - I love it so much!! But this season? Awful!! I can’t help but wonder if they didn’t do the whole “firm going under” storyline that they wouldn’t have been canceled,” Redditor vancitymala said.

Fans of the show even say that the cancellation now makes sense. And the rushed, illogical new storylines made it obvious that the show had lost its charm. Maybe that's why CBS decided to let it go, after all.

Still, the cliffhanger ending of the series bothers all fans, no matter if they liked season 2 or not. So they all believe that it would be picked up by another platform, although there is no information on the matter.

So Help Me Todd is available to watch on Prime Video.
