It’s either you or me all the way through.

When you have a lot of series to choose from, it only seems easy to find something to your liking. At the end, you just drop every second of them for the stupidest reasons: slow pace, unlikable main character, cringe love story or whatever else.

So when you finally find a show that is perfect for you and then it suddenly gets canceled, of course you will feel sorry for your loss and angry at the whole world. This is actually what happened to the fans of the show called So Help Me Todd.

The series premiered on CBS in 2022 and immediately became popular among viewers. So Help Me Todd is a legal drama that follows a strict and law-obedient Margaret, the owner of a big law firm, and her son Todd, a talented but directionless private investigator.

The two of them start working together, and the series of quite entertaining shenanigans follow after that. In February this year, the second season was released, only for the show to get canceled by CBS later in April…

Needless to say, fans were furious with the news, especially since a new show premiered on the channel almost at the same time. We are talking about Elsbeth, of course, which immediately gathered a lot of fans mainly because it’s a spinoff of two long beloved series The Good Wife and The Good Fight.

Elsbeth follows the life and actions of Carrie Preston’s Elsbeth Tascioni, an unconventional attorney who ends up working as a de facto detective. The series was already greenlit for the second season, but it seems that some people are not very happy about it.

“Tonight I watched my first episode of Elsbeth - mostly because of the all-star cast on this episode. I am not dissing this show per se but it is nowhere near as good as So Help Me Todd. Elsbeth is a tired rerun of Colombo, which was much more clever and had better writing. How could CBS keep this show and not So Help Me Todd?” Redditor inkantrix said.

The question is legit, but there's no point in arguing about people's preferences, because that's never been the case when it comes to show cancellations. The reasons have absolutely nothing to do with the creative side of television.

But in the case of So Help Me Todd, we can only blame Elsbeth for being entertaining enough that the execs at CBS wanted it on the schedule instead of something else. And that doesn't mean that either show deserves to be trashed.

Both So Help Me Todd and Elsbeth are available to stream on Paramount Plus.
