Skins: Where's the OG Cast Now, 11 Years After the Finale?
Some of the most popular teenagers of the 2010s turned into not-so-popular adults.
Before Misfits, teens around the world couldn't tear themselves away from the first-of-its-kind British series Skins. Each episode was dedicated to one character — in this way, the viewer could get to know all the teenagers without exception.
That's why Skins became a family for many. The show ended eleven years ago, and have you ever wondered what happened to the main stars of the project?
1. Nicholas Hoult — Tony Stonem
And we start, of course, with Tony Stonem. The pilot episode of the first season opens with a scene where Tony wakes up and sneaks out of the house, fools his stepfather, and calls all of his friends about a very important matter — he's going to throw a party.
Hoult's impeccable performance was hard for any casting manager to ignore. Over time, Nicholas became perhaps the most recognizable actor from the Skins cast: after the series ended, he managed to play the Beast in X-Men: First Class, a zombie in Warm Bodies, Peter III in the series The Great, and starred in such acclaimed films as The Favourite and The Menu.
2. April Pearson — Michelle Richardson
The actress who played Tony's girlfriend Michelle did not achieve such resounding success on the big screen. April, who played the girl who could not decide who she liked, a popular guy or a shy geek, was not remembered by viewers for anything outstanding. Besides, Skins was one of her first projects.
Among her more recent works are the British comedy God's Petting You and the horror film The Kindred, in which she played the lead role.
3. Mike Bailey — Sid Jenkins
Sid is a shy teenager in glasses and a cap who has had a lot of bad luck: the girl he likes is going out with his best friend, and he's not doing so well at school.
Mike Bailey, who played Sid, decided not to continue his acting career soon after finishing Skins. After starring in some almost unknown projects like We Are the Freaks, Bailey decided to change his profession. He is now a drama/music teacher at Bedminster Down School.
4. Kaya Scodelario — Effy Stonem
Effy is a rebel we loved in the first two seasons. Not surprisingly, this character was developed in the next generation of Skins — in the third and fourth seasons, Effy became one of the show's key characters.
Kaya Scodelario herself could not go unnoticed by producers and directors. The actress starred in movies like Moon, Wuthering Heights, Now Is Good and The Maze Runner with Dylan O'Brien. One of her most recent projects was a role in the series The Gentlemen, a spin-off of the Guy Ritchie film of the same name.
5. Joseph Dempsie — Chris Miles
The image of the teenage drug addict Chris that Joseph embodied on screen was well received by the show's audience. The character proved to be extremely charismatic despite all the stupid actions.
Now, Joseph stars in less popular projects like Accused and Burn Burn Burn, but so far his most important TV work, in addition to the role of Chris, was his participation in Game of Thrones, where he played Gendry Baratheon.
