Silo Successor: New Sci-Fi Show With Game of Thrones' Star Is On The Way
Silo left a gaping hole in your heart? Its author has something new for you.
In May 2023, Silo was released on Apple TV Plus. It is a post-apocalyptic dystopia based on the novels of the same name by Hugh Howey with Dune and Mission: Impossible star Rebecca Ferguson in the main role.
Silo tells the story of people who live in a giant bunker. They don't know who built the bunker, how mankind got there, or what happened in the past. But everyone is convinced that poisonous air and instant death await them on the surface. Occasionally, some people do leave the bunker, but the outside camera only proves they die there.
Silo was renewed for a second season even before the end of the first. The series, which made us look forward to the development of the story and won high ratings, ended on an intriguing note and left us wanting more high-quality sci-fi.
And to make the wait less painful, Silo's niche was occupied by a new project from the creator of the story about the mysterious bunker. A fresh and promising sci-fi show, Beacon 23, starring Game of Thrones ' Lena Headey, will debut on MGM+ on November 12.
According to the plot of Hugh Howey's book of the same name, for centuries people have worked in beacons to ensure the safe passage of ships. In the 23rd century, this work moved into space. A network of beacons allows spaceships to travel across the Milky Way at many times the speed of light.
Halan Kai Nelson is a lonely beacon keeper in a dark corner of space. His life changes when the mysterious Aster appears. Aster and Halan's destinies become intertwined as they find themselves trapped at the edge of the universe. Halan must find out – who is Aster, enemy or friend?
The project's development was announced back in 2018. Zak Penn, whom most viewers know from his work on Free Guy, Ready Player One and The Avengers, took on the task of writing the script.
The show is directed by Daniel Percival and Lewin Webb, whose previous credits include The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Man in the High Castle and The Good Shepherd. In addition, the show was renewed for a second season before its release.
