Although Shameless ran for a full eleven seasons and Fiona had several relationships during that time, most fans are convinced that Jimmy aka Steve and Fiona's pairing was the best ever.

The wish of many fans was for Jimmy to return and rekindle their relationship. And according to one of the fan theories, it happened.

Jimmy Lishman, also known as Steve, appeared in the first season of the show. During the first three seasons, he took an active part in the show, but after the fifth season, he left the show.

Jimmy was introduced as a rich womanizer who fell in love with Fiona. Fiona couldn't resist his charm and fell in love with him as well, but then it turned out that Jimmy was not who he claimed to be.

Digging into his past, the head of the Gallagher family learns that Jimmy goes by several names and is involved in criminal showdowns while married to the daughter of a drug lord.

Not surprisingly, the two broke up after that, and for a while fans were even sure that Jimmy had been killed, but those were just tricks of the writers.

And although the love affair between these two heroes ended in the early seasons, their chemistry was so strong that none of Fiona's subsequent suitors could top Jimmy/Steve in the eyes of the fans.

"Even with J/S constant secrets and lying, they understood each other. You could definitely say J/S was toxic for sure and he was but I felt like out of everyone else, he legit really did love Fiona and vice versa. Too bad things didn't continue with them," Reddit user yonBonbonbon said.

However, Reddit user No-Log3559 noticed a detail that many missed, which could very likely indicate that Fiona and Jimmy did get back together.

In an episode of Shameless Hall of Shame, a mini-series that ran concurrently with the final season of the main series and revealed more about some of the characters, Ian learns that Ned has died.

Ned was Jimmy's father and Ian Gallagher's former lover. Ian found out about his death when someone texted him.

Since it was said earlier in the show that Ian had no friends, and no one from Ned's entourage communicated with him, the fan concluded that it was Fiona who broke the news to Ian. And who told Fiona herself?

Of course, it was Jimmy, Ned's son.

The fans were happy to accept this theory, because it brings to life what many viewers have been dreaming of, and it seems to be quite logical.

Either way, Fiona deserves to be happy with the man she loves, and if it really is Jimmy/Steve, then the fans are doubly excited.
