Can you imagine being a homebody who hates to travel and you're forced to travel the world? Schitt's Creek star Eugene Levy doesn't have to.

The Reluctant Traveler is an Apple TV+ travel documentary comedy series starring Eugene Levy. Over the course of 8 episodes, the Emmy-winning actor has unforgettable experiences in different parts of the world — Italy, Japan, Finland and more. It seems like a dream come true for thousands of people – to explore new countries and places and get paid for it. But not for Eugene Levy.

In a recent interview for CNN, Eugene Levy admitted that he doesn't like to travel, doesn't have a sense of adventure and described himself as a "big indoor guy" who gets tired when he gets near the security line.

So how did he become the host of the travel show? The showrunners simply made a thing out of Levi's disdain for travelling! The audience loves to see how Eugene, initially closed off and unhappy, gradually opens up and becomes fascinated by the new culture.

It also helps that Eugene's pitch, which has remained constant over the years, is sarcastic, unflappable and passionate, which also captivates the audience. At the end of each episode, we see the reluctant side of the actor dissolve and the curious side emerge, ready to embrace all that is new, unfamiliar and therefore exciting.

With all the variety and number of travel shows out there, the creators of the show have managed to find places that have not been explored by the camera before, to bring something new to the travel format. One of the show's weaknesses, according to viewers, is its length — it's only 30 minutes long, which isn't enough to really immerse you. But of course, it's better to be a little hungry for the next episode than to die of boredom watching an hour-long film.

Fans praise the show for being sincere and heartwarming, with its own special qualities that will keep you glued to the screen until the very end. If you are tired of travel formats, The Reluctant Traveler may be just what you need to rekindle your interest in digital travel.
