Fans, on the other hand, will never forget it.

Summary:

  • Hocus Pocus is an iconic 90's comedy horror film starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy.
  • Over the years, the movie has proven to be a Halloween staple for many homes across the U.S.
  • However, Sarah Jessica Parker admitted that she doesn't even remember what the movie is about.

No matter how far actors go in their careers, there are some projects that their fans will always hold close to their hearts. And in some cases, the most treasured movies of TV series for the fanbase won't match the actor's choice of favorites at all. But that doesn't mean they're any less important.

Best known for her brilliant portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw in HBO's romantic comedy-drama Sex and the City, Sarah Jessica Parker still holds onto that role and now stars in a sequel, And Just Like That. Though reviews for the film have been mixed, Carrie Bradshaw remains one of the most iconic television characters of the 21st century.

However, true fans know the OG performance that brought the actress widespread recognition. In 1993, she starred in the comedy-horror Hocus Pocus, which has since become a Halloween staple.

Is Hocus Pocus Good?

There are two types of people who enjoy Hocus Pocus: those who simply find it to be an entertaining and fun movie that deserves the title of slightly obnoxious, yet very Halloween-appropriate, classic, and those who feel that the movie is so bad that it's actually good. Intentionally or not, it lands in an iconic category.

However, Sarah Jessica Parker, who starred in it as the witch Sarah Sanderson, doesn't seem to care about it all that much.

Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she had to admit that her memory of Hocus Pocus is fuzzy, and there aren't many precious moments to reflect on, even a few decades later.

"I don’t have a lot of memories. I mean, I remember the filming of it. I just don’t remember what the movie’s about as much. Three witches, I’ve been told that, and apparently my character’s not very bright. But I fly and sing. <...> I think I like to kill children? I liked making the movie and I liked flying," the actress recalled.

As painful as it may be to hear, fans of the film and Halloween enthusiasts from all around the world are happy to remind the actress of the masterpiece that is Hocus Pocus if she ever needs to freshen up her memory.

After all, there aren't many movies that are enjoyed by so many people, regardless of age, gender, or financial status. Whether it is an ironic watch or a genuine one, Hocus Pocus continues to bring laughter and joy to its viewers.

If you can't wait until October to immerse yourself in the mystical and somewhat scary atmosphere of the witch story, you can stream Hocus Pocus on Disney Plus today. The long-awaited sequel to the film is also available on Disney Plus.
