Fans believe they recognize the characters they see on the set, which means the creators may have left out some exciting stories.

Filming has finally begun on the second season of The Sandman TV series, confirming that the show has not been affected by the ongoing WGA strike.

The first photos show a scene being filmed in Dorset, England, and have already sparked speculation among fans that the creators may be moving too fast with the show, ignoring some pretty important story arcs.

Beware of mild spoilers.

The photos show the film crew on the beach, as well as Morpheus (Tom Sturridge ) and an unknown actor dressed in white, leading some fans to believe that they are filming the scene where Lucifer arrives on Earth after leaving Hell during the Sandman: Season of Mists story arc.

Others, however, came up with a much more believable explanation, as the actor in white is obviously not Gwendoline Christie, who plays Lucifer in the series, and he is holding a lyre, suggesting that he is actually Orpheus, the son of Morpheus, who appeared in the story The Song of Orpheus.

This caused some fans to worry that the writers had decided to skip some rather interesting stories, such as A Game of You, in order to move forward with the overall plot.

However, it is quite common for TV shows not to shoot episodes and scenes in chronological order, as it depends on many factors.

For example, the creators may shoot the final scene first because it takes place during a certain season of the year.

Also, the Sandman TV series doesn't follow a strict chronology, so it's possible that the creators saved stories like A Game of You for later.

Either way, fans are excited for the upcoming second season because they thought the first one was amazing and can't wait to see what else the creators have in store for them.

The only thing that raises a little concern is that due to the aforementioned ongoing WGA strike, it is most likely that the filming process is happening without the writers involved, which could lead to some complications along the way.

The official release date for The Sandman Season 2 hasn't been announced yet, although it's expected sometime in 2024.
