Hollywood’s greatest have already started protesting Warner Bros.’s radical decision, but Reynolds came in to add the “gun” to the “fight” by firing a “warning shot” at WB.

If you have somehow missed it, the legendary Turner Classic Movies network is being viciously gutted down by its owner, Warner Bros. Discovery. WB has reduced the company’s numbers to less than two dozen employees in its cost-cutting rage, and many big-name classic lovers are really, really unhappy with this decision.

Turner Classic Movies has already been backed by the industry’s titans like Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Paul Thomas Anderson; they were then joined by others — Stephen King and Ryan Reynolds, to name a few… But if you know Ryan Reynolds, then you not that simply signing a joint letter was not enough for him.

The actor’s Maximum Effort agency has a partnership with Fubo which effectively means that Reynolds has a channel of his own there. While the original idea was to create and stream his own original content there, Ryan decided to use his Fubo channel as some sort of leverage against Warner Bros.’s TCM cuts.

Reynolds announced “Classic Movie Mondays” on his channel which will be streaming older films the way TCM does that. This is his own “warning shot” for WB, and he has already announced the first few movies on the Maximum Effort channel.

“One benefit of Maximum Effort having its own channel on Fubo is we can program whatever we want. So, Monday, we’re doing our best impression of TCM as a very weak warning shot,” wrote the actor on Twitter.

While it’s clear as day that Reynolds’ channel can’t really force the WB executives to backtrack on their decision to gut down Turner Classic Movies, it shows the actor’s support — and benefits him, personally.

Even if nothing works, with one simple move, he earned more PR and audience than can be typically done with just one tweet.

While we won’t exactly remember Ryan Reynolds as the savior of TCM, it shows that both his heart and his business sense are in the right place.
