Just give them a try - and you’ll see love.

If you want to make a skeptic interested in watching a romantic comedy, here comes a list of top-rated iconic movies of the genre, which are guaranteed to be must-watches.

5. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)

The movie, focusing on the love story of a typical “cool girl”, played by Kate Hudson, hanging out with an average mildly chauvinistic guy (Matthew McConaughey), presents a couple which is presumably doomed since its beginning.

However, the actor’s charisma, their chemistry and plot’s peculiarities turn it into a romcom masterpiece.

“It’s such a simple movie I think. No thinking involved,” jokes Redditor @Mogwai10.

4. The Princess Bride (1987)

This comedy features a story of the farmer Westley (Cary Elwes), rescuing the love of his life, princess Buttercup (Robin Wright), from the hands of the evil prince, which is narrated as a book being read by a grandfather to his sick grandson.

This metafictional narration, filled with perfectly timed jokes and fictional creatures, will be a perfect movie relief for everyone, from children to the most bulletproof skeptics of romcoms.

3. When Harry Met Sally ( 1989)

Next comes the movie, exploiting the classic “two friends gradually falling in love with each other” trope, has become literally a benchmark of the genre.

Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal’s titular characters perform perfectly written dialogues and cook a great meal out of their long onscreen friendship and chemistry, so “even if you're not into romantic movies it's still hilarious,” as voiced by Redditor @ShneakySquiwwel.

2. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

Being the 1990s classics of teen romance movies, it has it all: awkward high school students, boys chattering about girls, use of Shakespearean motives and, eventually, prom, putting all things in order.

The movie touches on all these tropes but somehow doesn't feel worn out at all, and the main characters, played by Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, steal the hearts by their brilliantly written development.

1. Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)

This Valentine's Day iconic movie can be definitely considered as the first movie to show to the one who can’t stand the genre. At least, its all-star cast, including Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore and Emma Stone, can buy literally everybody.

“One of the most well written, carefully crafted scripts I’ve ever seen. And the message of the film is one I think anyone can get behind,” states @SunBro98, and we can’t agree more.
