Fan theories never fail to amaze us. Here is one of the craziest in the Rick & Morty universe.

We've already seen a lot of theories about this show, but the "Rick is Morty" one is the weirdest, yet the most exciting.

The relationship between Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith has always been far from perfect, and that should come as no surprise since Rick hasn't been a part of Morty's life for a very long time.

Rick abandoned his daughter Beth when she was a little girl and suddenly decided to come back when she already had a family of her own.

But being a runaway dad hasn't stopped Rick from becoming an important part of a family and getting closer to the youngest family member.

Now Rick and Morty travel through different dimensions to deal with Rick's odd and dangerous missions and seem to be inseparable, but in this one fan theory, they are actually so inseparable that they can even be one person.

The theory tells us that Morty is an older version of Rick, who traveled to another dimension to change the mistakes of the past.

Fans are sure that Morty couldn't bear the hardship of his teen age in the family where there is no male role model that he could look up to and no women that show any interest in his existence.

It all led to the fact that Morty started spending more time with himself and became obsessed with science.

The theory goes on with the fact that Morty finally ended up with Jessica, as he always wanted, but the marriage failed after endless fights and Morty's alcohol addiction.

He decides to leave Jessica and their baby to dive deeper into science and that's when he finds out the possibility of traveling through dimensions. That leads to his decision to go back and fix everything.

The theory is actually phenomenal and can be the greatest plot twist of the show. It would explain a lot about Rick's attitude.

He hates Jerry because Jerry wasn't a good father to him; he pushes Morty away from Jessica because he already knows that their relationship won't work out; or the way he is harsh with Morty — it's all because he is mainly harsh with himself and has to go through all of his stupid teenage decisions all over again.

Plus, all these little hints like young Rick wearing blue pants at his young age, just like Morty does, or how the episode "The Rickshank Rickdemption" shows us a Rick/Morty hybrid — all this could actually prove that they are the same person.

However, along with the hints, there are also inconsistencies.

For example, in one of the episodes, we see Rick's memories of holding baby Morty, or the fact that all the multi universes have Ricks and Mortis — should it mean that they are all young and old versions of Rick?

Well, whatever it turns out to be, we are ready for this. You can stream Rick And Morty on HBO Max or Hulu Plus.
