Love was not enough for this iconic couple to survive.

Summary:

  • General Hospital is an ABC soap opera that has been on the air since 1963.
  • Today, viewers of the show refer to storylines involving Nina Reeves as "Granny Wars," but that wasn't always the case.
  • Back in 2014, she had a very exciting romantic interest in her life, Franco, who is still considered by some to be her best match.

No character in any show can stay interesting and relevant forever. Although there are some adventures that can happen to you at different stages of your life, sometimes people just settle down and live their lives happily ever after.

Of course, that doesn't seem to happen in General Hospital's Port Charles, where everyone lives in a state of constant drama, whether the viewers want to see it or not. At this point, people are begging the writers to take Nina Reeves off the show's radar and at least let her have some time to herself.

However, the creative team behind General Hospital is adamant about keeping her on no matter what. With no real power over the scripts, viewers are left to share their disappointment on social media and fondly remember the times when Nina's storyline was actually exciting and kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

General Hospital’s Nina And Franco

Back in the good old days when Franco was an art therapist at General Hospital, Nina became one of his clients after the coma and tragic loss of her baby. Although art doesn't seem to help her overcome her problems, her friendship with Franco has become a very important part of her life.

However, instead of making her feel better and pointing her to the mental institution, Franco only seemed to enable her destructive tendencies.

Completely convinced that Ava's baby was her own, Nina decided to steal it, and like any good friend would do, Franco agreed to help her run away and raise the child on her own.

Based on this story alone, you can imagine how purely chaotic the relationship between Nina and Franco was.

As soon as romance came into play, viewers were completely sold on the couple. They seemed perfect for each other and had a great chemistry that could've lasted for years of breaking up and getting back together.

Of course, in any soap, no character is safe from some crazy twist, and Franco and Nina weren't. But what's even sadder is that their romance didn't fall victim to anyone’s malicious scheme or important point in the plot. They just broke up because Nina desperately wanted children and Franco did not.

Perhaps this underwhelming romance finale was exactly what set Nina up for endless failure in the future. Although the two have remained friends ever since, many viewers of the soap admit that they haven't felt the same connection between Nina and any of the other men she's been with.

If you want to see what lies ahead for Nina Reeves, tune in to General Hospital Monday through Friday on ABC.
