Remember The Song General Hospital's Lucky Sang To Liz? You Won't Believe Who Wrote It

Throughout its long history, General Hospital has received a lot of praise and criticism for its plots. Too anticlimactic, or conversely, not making sense and incredibly rushed, the soap often struggled to find its pace. Once it did, however, it managed to create some of the best moments in daytime television.

Liz and Lucky's relationship was one of the biggest draws for viewers in the late 90s and into the 2000s. Thanks to the original actors, Rebecca Herbst and Jonathan Jackson, and the gentle yet very believable way the writers handled all the hardships the two had to overcome as teenagers, the couple quickly became superior to other storylines.

Though there isn't much hope today that young love can be rekindled, there are still enough moments to look back on and appreciate the tenderness.

One of the most beloved scenes for many longtime General Hospital viewers was Lucky singing the "Elizabeth" song to Liz. Accompanied by guitar, the tune still lives in the minds of fans.

However, there is a fact about this song that not everyone knows. It turns out that the song was also written by the actor who originated the role, Jonathan Jackson!

The rights were sold to ABC, so they could use the song whether Jackson was a part of the show or not. While we doubt anyone would want to see anyone but Lucky sing it to Liz, the gesture is appreciated.

The actor reprised his role as Lucky Spencer in 2009 and returned to the big screen in 2015. However, his musical talents were still very much needed in other of his projects, such as Nashville, where he portrayed Avery Barkley until 2018.
