Remember Crabbe from Harry Potter? He Wasn’t in Final Movies Because He Was In…Prison
The Harry Potter franchise hasn't turned every one of its actors into a global star.
Summary:
- Crabbe, Malfoy's henchman, did not appear in the last two Harry Potter films because actor Jamie Waylett was having trouble with the law.
- In 2009, a cannabis plantation was found at the actor's home, for which he was sentenced to community service, and in 2011 he was sentenced to two years in prison for participating in the London riots.
- Goyle's fate turned out better – actor Josh Herdman continued to act in projects such as Robin Hood and Andor, and also built a career as a mixed martial arts fighter.
Looking at the legacy of the Harry Potter series, it's hard not to feel a certain admiration. Harry Potter's target audience has long since expanded beyond school-age children, and the sets where Harry Potter was filmed have become places of pilgrimage for true fans of the franchise.
To feel how quickly you have grown up, it is enough to recall that the last Harry Potter movie, The Deathly Hollows Part 2, was released 13 years ago.
In that time, all the actors have grown up, and if the main characters are still on the screen, the secondary ones are not so popular.
Crabbe Wasn’t In the Last Two Movies Due to Legal Problems
Do you remember Crabbe and Goyle? The evil Slytherin friends are united by the fact that neither of them lived to see the end credits of the second part of Deathly Hallows, but for different reasons.
According to the book, it was Vincent Crabbe who should have died in hellfire, not Gregory Goyle, but the Crabbe actor simply wasn't around for the last two movies – and troubles with the law are to blame.
Malfoy's loyal henchman, Crabbe, was clearly a man with criminal tendencies, and Jamie Waylett unfortunately turned out to be similar to his character. The role in Harry Potter was his first and last.
During filming in 2009, the actor, who was only 20 years old, was found to have a cannabis plantation at home. Jamie confessed and was sentenced to 120 hours of community service.
Unfortunately, this experience did not teach the actor anything: in 2011, Waylett took an active part in the London riots. And this time the sentence was much harsher – two years in prison.
As a result, he didn’t appear in both parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and the former star now works as a car mechanic and is done with his acting career.
Goyle Didn't Become a Star, But Continued to Act
Goyle, another of Malfoy's bodyguards, met a different fate. After Harry Potter, Josh Herdman continued acting, and in 2016 began his career as a mixed martial arts fighter.
In recent years, he has appeared in several projects, the most notable being Robin Hood with Taron Egerton and TV series Andor, where he played not one of the main or even secondary characters, but Delivery Guard #1.
