Reddit Already Has a Perfect Stranger Things 5 Ending in Mind
It's a bittersweet one, but it seems like the only solution for the show.
With Stranger Things season 5 looming out there, it will certainly be an emotional rollercoaster for fans, as they prepare themselves to say goodbye to one of Netflix 's most successful projects ever. The final season is set to wrap up the entire story, so the writers have a big task ahead of them.
However, one Reddit theory has already appeared to solve it for them, coming up with a perfect solution for the entire Stranger Things story. According to the theory, it all should end with... Eleven abandoning Hawkins for good.
It would be reasonable to suggest that she and her abilities are the reason of the gates constantly opening between the Upside Down and Hawkins.
So, the theory concludes, Hawkins will never be fully free of the Upside Down creepiness unless Eleven follows 001's suit and leaves for the Upside Down — but in her case, to make it a peaceful and safe place.
"She is like a [Dungeons & Dragons] sorcerer, and a link to the [Upside Down]. As long as she stays, a gate will continue to open," the theory reads. "Therefore, the end of Eleven's character arc shouldn't be her forgetting her powers and being normal, it should be her becoming a Mentor archetype. As new children are born who can access the UD, she can contact them and teach them to do good – as she has decided not to follow 001 and 008 into evil."
Such an outcome would definitely makes sense, as the Upside Down would not probably be such a creepy and dangerous place if it wasn't for Henry Creel a.k.a. 001 who turned himself into Vecna and made the underworld into what it is. Eleven could bring the necessary changes to the Upside Down.
But there is certainly a tough part to this ending, because Eleven would definitely have to bid adieu to the Hawkins gang, her friends and boyfriend. Still, it is the final season we're talking about here, so it's only natural for it to be bittersweet.
The writing for the final season is already underway. However, Netflix is yet to announce the premiere date for Stranger Things 5.
