Red Dead Redemption Adaptation? It's A Surprising Yes From…Jack Black
An expert opinion on video games' adaptations came from a somewhat unexpected source.
Jack Black, the beloved comedy actor, recently expressed his desire to see a Red Dead Redemption movie made.
Black, who is part of the latest video game-to-film adaptation of Mario Bros. as the fire-breathing villain Bowser, also talked about his love for video games' adaptations and how he enjoys them. As long as they are well done, of course.
In a recent interview with BBC Black talked extremely favorably about the recent The Last of Us series.
What is probably even more noteworthy, he expressed a clear interest in seeing other games receive screen treatment, one in particular being Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption.
According to Black, it has "an even better story than The Last of Us." While not everyone may agree with Black's opinion, it's absolutely obvious there's longing for more game-to-film adaptations.
In fact, there are so many of them in the works right now, that it would take up half of the article just to list them all.
Being a huge game fan himself, Black expressed how he sees the future of the cinema at large: "I think we will be seeing more storytelling from the gaming universe… because that market seems to be growing and growing exponentially."
Black's passion for gaming clearly extends to his acting career.
Recently he has been cast as Claptrap in the upcoming Borderlands movie, starring alongside such powerful actors as Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Kevin Hart. The release date for the movie Borderlands is undisclosed at this point.
There is no official news on a Red Dead Redemption movie as of right now, and the whole idea of its big or small screen adaptation is just floating in the air for the time being.
However, Black's endorsement may potentially bring more attention to the possibility.
Fans will of course have to wait and see if a Red Dead Redemption adaptation will actually make it to screens.
In the meanwhile, gamers and movie lovers alike can look forward to the inevitably increasing number of game-to-film adaptations in the future.
