Real Reason Why Michael Bay Fired Megan Fox From Transformers (And Ruined Her Career)
The Transformers franchise first made Megan a global star, then destroyed her career.
Megan Fox became famous after her role in the first installment of the Transformers franchise. Her character’s portrayal in the Michael Bay movie could be interesting – a strong, tech-savvy woman raised by an abusive father who eventually realizes her importance – but she ends up being described as the protagonist's sexy girlfriend.
After that role, Fox was repeatedly called the sex symbol of the 21 century and the sexiest woman in the world.
However, despite her huge popularity, the actress was fired after Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen because of her ambiguous statements towards director Michael Bay. Fox said in an interview:
“He's like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad man reputation. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is.”
Michael Bay, judging by what he said then and what he is doing now, took the actress' words quite calmly – he considered them a clumsy attempt to promote herself and only noted that it is not worth telling tales out of school.
Spielberg, however, was furious – understandably, the director of Schindler's List couldn't stand it when his colleagues were compared to Hitler. So the Transformers producer demanded that Fox not be involved in the third installment, and Bay readily complied.
At the time, Fox may not have seen her dismissal from Transformers as a tragedy, but her career collapsed after that. And of course, the stigma of being the actress who pissed off the great Spielberg did not help her to find new roles.
Several years passed and after learning that Bay was looking for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star, Megan swallowed her pride, called the director, apologized for the past and offered her services.
At the same time, it cannot be said that Fox simply gave up her words and claims against Bay.
After all, April from TMNT is a sexy girl, but not a sex symbol. She walks around fully clothed, and Fox actually acted on the set, not just posed for the camera, as in many scenes of Transformers.
So the actress and the director have not just returned to the same point – their relationship has evolved, and Bay now seems to have more respect for his star than when they worked on Transformers.
