There’s still a way he can make it 10.

When a public figure promises to do something, there’s no way they can let it go and not be reminded of their own words by the crowd. That’s why it’s so hard for the celebrities to lie about their lives: everything is compromised.

But if not talking about some tea, but more of some sort of professional achievements, it can be a lot more difficult. For example, everybody knows Quentin Tarantino, and everybody definitely heard him saying he wants to retire at 60 after creating 10 movies.

However, it seems like he needs a new plan, as the man is now 61 and his latest movie, the one that was supposed to be his finish line, has already been canceled. By him...

The name is The Movie Critic, and it was originally conceived as a completely new thing with an original script, but after a lot of work was put into the creation of the script, Tarantino made the decision that the movie should be a kind of sequel to his previous hit Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The Movie Critic would have featured Brad Pitt, but there were no other specific details known about the movie's plot and other casting decisions.

However, in April 2024, it was announced that the movie had been canceled for unknown reasons, but definitely not because of something happening outside Tarantino’s own world. This may have come as a shock to many, but it's not the first time the director has made such a decision.

His 2015 $155 million hit was also on the verge of being canceled, but for a very specific reason. We're talking about The Hateful Eight. Just before production began, it was discovered that someone had leaked the script to the Internet. This of course caused a lot of frustration, so Tarantino thought it would kill the movie and canceled it on the spot.

Nevertheless, after some thought, he decided that he would rather spend some time creating a new version of the film's finale and still make it happen. And that was the best decision, because otherwise the world would never have seen Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell's neo-western.

So even though the reasons for these two cancellations are definitely different, there seems to be a chance that the legendary director will find a way to create a movie that fills all of his perfectionist gaps and finally give the fans the movie they have been waiting for so long.
