The money might be good, but what's their real value?

If there's one thing Quentin Tarantino is known for other than his very high-quality and dynamic but rather violent movies, it's his sharp opinions on what's going on in the industry.

Although the director has decided to end his career as a filmmaker, that doesn't mean he's planning to disappear from Hollywood for good.

As Tarantino shared with Deadline, he can see himself trying other formats, like a TV show or a short film, but he will most likely just stick to writing.

Although the decision may come as a shock to everyone, the director himself tends not to make a big deal out of it: he always liked the idea of ending things on a high note.

Besides, his growing distaste for the tendency of movies to move from theaters to streaming platforms would have pushed Tarantino to make this decision anyway.

Explaining his devotion to the old-school way of making movies and judging their success, the director did not censor himself, praising some for standing on the same ground and throwing shade at others for giving in to the hype of streaming platforms.

"I mean, and I'm not picking on anybody, but apparently for Netflix, Ryan Reynolds has made $50 million on this movie and $50 million on that movie and $50 million on the next movie for them. I don't know what any of those movies are. I've never seen them," the director complained.

Although Tarantino claimed to be neutral about the changes, he admitted that the pandemic and the terrible state of theaters at the time probably accelerated the process of modernization he so disliked.

His retirement, however, would surely be just another step closer to the complete abolition of cinema.

However, with such an impact on both industry professionals and the audiences of his films, Tarantino's departure from the scene could be the starting point of a very important discussion about preserving the culture of cinematography and bringing value back into it.

The Movie Critic, which would be the last Quentin Tarantino film, is scheduled to be released in 2024.

There is no casting information yet, so stay tuned for more production updates and behind-the-scenes moments.
