Prime Video’s Hit Horror Show Drops Season 2, Premieres with 100%

Learning from one’s mistakes is crucial, especially when you’re trying to continue something that flopped the first time around. Prime Video is notoriously a hit-or-miss streamer, and this particular TV show’s Season 1 performed rather underwhelmingly. Despite the initial setback, it’s now back with Season 2 — and it’s doing great so far!
Are You Ready for More of Them?
Season 2 of Prime Video’s anthology horror series Them follows an LAPD Homicide Detective on a trail of a mysterious killer after a gruesome murder shook up the city. The year is 1991, and Los Angeles is on the verge of chaos — but the Detective is determined to uncover the truth… Except that the closer she gets to it, the more malevolent things start happening to her and her family.
At the time of writing, it’s easy to call Them S2’s debut stellar: despite having few reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, they’re almost exclusively positive. Currently, the new series boasts a perfect 100% Critic Score (based on seven reviews) and an impressive 93% Audience Score (based on over 50 reviews). Not bad at all, right?

Season 2 Is a Second Chance for Them

Unlike the latest series, Them Season 1 was more of a social commentary horror. It followed the life of a Black family that moved into an all-white LA neighborhood in 1953, struggling with the prejudice among their new neighbors. But apart from real threats, there are also dark forces that seek to ruin the family in their new house.
Them Season 1 had… A rough time. The series has an underwhelming 58% Critic Score on Rotten Tomatoes, followed closely by a 67% Audience Score. Most reviews point out how despite impressive performances, the focus on gore ruined the social backdrop of the series, rendering the entire Season 1 superficial and questionable.
It looks like Them Season 2 has learned from its past mistakes — but we’ll have to wait until more critics and viewers watch it to see how the scales will tip.
