Polin Fans Aren’t Happy With Bridgerton S3 Showrunner Already
Let’s just hope they do Penelope justice.
Summary:
- Bridgerton is a Netflix romantic period drama based on a book series by Julia Quinn.
- Every season is focused on the love story of one Bridgerton siblings. Season 3 will introduce the love story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington.
- Fans of the pair worry that the new showrunner of the series, Jess Brownell, won’t do the characters justice.
If there is one thing all Polin shippers want to see in the next season of Bridgerton, it is Penelope Featherington's happy smile as she receives all the well-deserved praise in the world from Colin Bridgerton. And judging by how well season 1 and 2 of the show went, we don't have a single doubt that this will be the final result.
But with Bridgerton, it's not the mystery of who will end up together that bothers viewers so much, but the mystery of how that will happen. And that is the question many fans are pondering in their spare time before the season is released.
It would be easier to guess if the Shondaland writers followed Julia Quinn's original source material, but they usually don't, and that only adds to the confusion. In the books, both Colin and Penelope were supposed to be much older. Marina Thompson wasn't even an obstacle between them.
The only thing that kept them apart was Colin's lack of maturity, but that won't be the case in season 3. No one knows what will happen better than the showrunner of the season, Jess Brownell, but even she has the fandom worried now.
Why Colin Wanted To Get Back With Marina
Although it was clear that Colin's visit to Marina Crane was meant to be a conclusion to her story, as well as a quick re-introduction to Sir Philip Crane for those who can't wait for Eloise's book to be adapted, his motives weren't right at all. Viewers didn't appreciate the lack of growth he showed during his travels through Greece and the mindset he returned with.
Colin trying to win Marina over was a clear indicator of how unfit he really is to move on. The way Marina had to basically push him in Penelope's direction by directly calling out her name was nothing more than a humiliating way to portray her as the second-best option who will always be there for Colin no matter what.
The detail that has fans worried is that these scenes were written by Jess Brownell, who was behind the wheel in season 3.
All fans want now is to find out that it was a deliberate decision on Brownell's part, and that Penelope will get the right treatment next season. Knowing how good Bridgerton men are at pining and longing, we can only hope that Colin will realize his mistake and face the rejection before finally winning his true love.
Be sure to stay tuned for all the behind-the-scenes news and updates from Bridgerton to catch the release date announcement and see how the story unfolds. In the meantime, you can watch the first two seasons of Bridgerton on Netflix.
