Bridgerton fans have had mixed feelings about the departure of Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne Basset.

She was a strong lead in the first season and her chemistry with Rege-Jean Page, who played her husband Simon Basset, was undeniable. However, ever since Page left the show at the end of the first season, fans have been pondering her future. She became more of a supporting cast member in the second season, and nobody seems overly surprised that she has now chosen to depart.

Simply stating, "I've done my two seasons," Dynevor has not offered a detailed explanation for her reason for leaving.

While there is no confirmation of any animosity or issues on the set, fans have pointed out that it does seem strange for her to leave so abruptly like this.

But those who are sad to see her go can breathe a sigh of relief. Dynevor has stated that she has not closed the door on Bridgerton for good and has not ruled out a possible return in the future. While her on-screen husband, Page, has stated unequivocally that he will never return to the show, it is comforting that fans have probably not seen the last of Daphne.

Daphne Bridgerton became a firm fan favourite in season one, as everyone saw her falling in love with the handsome Duke of Hastings who swore he would never marry or father children to spite his father. But destiny had other ideas and he soon returned her feelings, leading to the pair's marriage and the birth of their son, Augie.

Bridgerton's Hottest Star Was in Harry Potter, and Nobody Noticed

Confirmation of her departure has prompted a lengthy fan discussion on Reddit, with some strong criticism of the show's lack of organisation. Comments are made about the actors' contracts, and fans feel that the writers and producers of Bridgerton do not know what they are doing in terms of story, as they cannot predict who their cast will be.

There is some speculation that this uncertainty is the reason for Dynevor's departure, but there is no evidence of this. It is more likely that she is simply too busy with other projects, as noted by one fan who observed that she seems to have a lot in the works for 2023. According to her IMDB page, Dynevor has two films coming out in 2023, and a further four projects either in production or development.
