Longmire is a perfect Yellowstone replacement. The series premiered on Netflix in 2012 and lasted for 6 seasons, wrapping up in 2017. The story of the show is based on Craig Johnson’s Longmire novels and revolves around the character of Walt Longmire.
The man is a dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming. A year before the series is set he had lost his wife, and while on the outside he looks okay, his wounds are much deeper in his heart.
The complications follow when he decides to use this moment as a turning point in his life and try to run for re-election, only to be somewhat betrayed by a younger deputy, who decides to become his opponent.
The show starts as a simple yet entertaining police procedural, but through its six-season course turns into a whole universe with many plot twists and drama you never imagined to see. Just like Yellowstone.
However, when it comes to numbers, Longmire seems to be a while ahead of its brother Yellowstone. While Sheridan’s series has 84% on Rotten Tomatoes with Audiences Score being 76%, Longmire has 88% rating with 92% from the audience.
