Peaky Blinders Movie Update Finally Confirms What Everyone's Been Asking For
The series’s main star is confirmed to be back.
Summary:
- Peaky Blinders ’ creator Steven Knight confirms he’s working on the show-related movie.
- The production will start this autumn with Cillian Murphy returning to his leading role.
- The upcoming movie will most likely happen to be a sequel of the series as the plot will follow events set in later years.
It may have been the end for the show itself when the last season came out in 2022, but not for its universe — Peaky Blinders are heading for expansion by making a movie. The production is set to start this September and — great news — Cillian Murphy is coming back to his Thomas Shelby’s role.
It seems like no one in the original crew really wanted to say goodbye to the series back then in 2022 — and the possible sequel was just a matter of time.
Cillian Murphy recently admitted he would definitely be down for anything related to Peaky Blinders in case Steven Knight, the creator of the show, would bring him a good script — in the presence of which he didn’t really doubt calling Knight “a phenomenal writer”.
Though Murphy laughs it off, saying that he’s not sure whether fans need 50-year-old Tommy Shelby, the latter ones, most likely, wouldn’t even mind. Steven Knight meanwhile confirms that the plot will go further than the last season’s events — right up to the first years of World War II, as the show’s final takes place in 1933.
So far there’s not so much to say about the rest of the cast, but Knight has already spilled some tea about this too saying that the last season’s new generation will also be a part of what’s going to happen in the film.
As for the plot, there will apparently be two parallel stories that will unfold, but how exactly is still a mystery even for the creator himself.
Right now the upcoming film isn’t the only project centered in Peaky Blinders’ universe — Netflix also seems to be working on two spin-offs and one prequel of the fan-favorite show. So far there are no visible signs of the dawn of Peaky Blinders’ era.
