Peacock's Most Anticipated Thriller Series Ended Up Being a Huge Flop
What a shame.
When any streaming platform announces its upcoming series, it's clear that some of them will be more hyped and some will die before release. But when expectation and reality don't match, it's a bit sad, isn't it?
The most anticipated series of March on Peacock was a mystery show called Apples Never Fall, but it seems that all the fuss was for nothing, because the limited series ended up with a 47% Rotten Tomatoes score...
So, what is it about? At the center of the series is the Delaney family. From the outside, they seem to be alright, like a normal and happy family, but they have their secrets, as it usually happens with such polished families.
The seemingly wholesome family includes Joy and Stan, former tennis coaches, and their four grown children. One day, however, they meet a rather strange woman, and their lives change forever... Joy simply disappears, leaving the whole family wondering what happened to her.
When the mother of the family goes missing, her husband and all the kids start looking for her, of course, but more importantly, they start rethinking all their relationships. With that comes the realization that the family has buried many dark secrets of the past and is still not ready to move on.
However, it seems that it all sounds amazing only on paper, because in reality, the viewers are not happy with what the series turned out to be. They say that the casting of the children didn't match the energy and vibe that Liane Moriarty's book gives. Also, the change in their relationship dynamic did not portray them in the light that was needed.
Actually, the fact that the series is an adaptation of Moriarty's novel was one of the factors that got people so excited about the show. The woman is the author of the hit novel Big Little Lies, which was successfully adapted to the small screen.
Well, if you still want to give Apples Never Fall a chance, the series is available to stream on Peacock.
