Give your Netflix account a rest for a while.

The modern world provides us with everything we need and a little bit more. For example, remember the time when our parents used to record shows that were on the air to watch them later? Now we don't have to, because the market is full of different streaming services that offer us everything we want.

It also helps that all the major players in the industry have their own original shows, making it a competition to see whose project "wins'' the battle. Netflix, AppleTV+, Hulu, Prime Video – these are just a few of the most popular services.

And one of them is Paramount+, so here are five series you definitely missed on the platform. Time to change that!

1. The Offer (2022)

The hidden gem of the platform, The Offer, has a pretty low Rotten Tomatoes score of only 57%, but still has a huge following. The show is actually a limited series with only 10 episodes, but that's enough to get you hooked on its humor, brilliant storytelling and excellent casting.

The Offer is a biographical drama by Michael Tolkin that tells the story of the creation of one of the greatest movies ever made – The Godfather. It’s amazing to see Al Ruddy and Mario Puzo’s worlds colliding in the series and see how the masterpiece is born.

“Fantastic show! It has been one of my faves along with all my friends to watch every week together. Also everyone kills it in acting in the show, the dinner sequence with the whole cast of the movie getting together for the first time might be one of my all time favorite scenes in a show ever,” Redditor DankFrank777 said.

2. Mayor of Kingstown ( 2021)

If it's been a while since you've watched a decent, unpredictable, brutal crime show, then give Mayor of Kingstown a chance. This intense series is set in the fictional company town of Kingstown, Michigan.

The town is famous for its prison business. And the job of mediator is done by the McLusky family. The show tackles a lot of tough issues like racism, corruption and inequality. And the main characters of the series just try to do whatever they can to bring order and justice back to the town.

3. Ghosts UK (2019-2023)

You may have heard of this show, but if not, you'd be happy to change that. But be prepared to see something different from what you are used to: this is not your ordinary modern sitcom.

The show is a classic British-style humor series that focuses on a young couple who, after inheriting a house, discover that it is full of ghosts.

And now the idea to turn the house into a hotel seems to be fading away. The series will also be an excellent family watch.

4. Evil (2019-2024)

You can't say this about every show on every platform, but sometimes a show comes along that fans believe actually gets better with each season.

Well, Evil is one of them. It revolves around a skeptical clinical psychologist who somehow ends up in a team with a priest in training and a blue collar contractor.

Together they investigate supposedly abnormal events, including demonic possession and other extraordinary occurrences, to see if there's a scientific explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work.

“I think it is a great show! The amount of drama and nondrama they add to it is the best. The silly-Ness they add with George on the show makes it funny. I'm not going to lie, it reminds me of early episodes of The X-Files and the quirkiness of it,” one redditor said.

5. Detroiters (2017-2018)

One of the standout shows on the platform is definitely this single-camera buddy comedy that centers on Sam and Tim, two best friends who work in advertising and make their own low-budget commercials, but what they really crave is a bigger life.

“Detroiters is amazing and underrated. The show is just so goofy and lovable. It of course has Tim Robinson’s absurd sense of humor, but it also has a surprisingly wholesome side to it too with the friendship between Tim and Sam. So disappointed it only got 2 seasons,” Redditor RealHumanFromEarth said.
